a growing bangla blogosphere, what can we learn?

badh bhangar aawaj is approaching two years of colourful moments - ups and downs, peace and war, laughter and tears, but always engagement.
we are happy to see that our success has inspired others to develop similar services, especially with reference to sachalayatan. the more bangla services that are created, the better choices and wider reach for local talents to express themselves.
i would really love to hear from you about other services which are not so widely known yet but deserves better publicity. perhaps we could give them some push forward through deeper discussions and highlights here on somewhere in... blog?
you all know somewhere in... blog, and you all have an opinion about our service and features. i think it would be healthy to maintain a debate on all services so that the lessons to learn for us all could be better highlighted.
why should we promote other services through somewhere in... blog? well, in my eyes, there is no competition, as there is not a finite number of users to fight for. the main challenge is to reach out to all the people who do not know about blogging and the opportunities that exist for free expressions in bangla. that can best be done by joining hands and spread the word. whether people blog on somewhere in... blog, sachalayatan or other services is not the issue. the important thing is to get more and more people to start blogging, and let the really talented people get more exposure and reach for their writings. only in this way can we as bloggers make a real impact on the society in a positive way. i guess we all agree on some issues: that we need internet, we need free expression of thoughts and we need a massive collaborative effort to build bangladesh as a strong, modern country which is well respected internationally. i can only contribute in english, but i am lucky to have the capacity to contribute to strengthen bangla as a language through the internet.
we always try to improve badh bhangar aawaj, and if you find other services that you are more happy with than ours, then we have even better reasons to look for improvements within ourselves.
let this be a positive discussion towards the other services. do you have any feedback to us about what they do better than us, why you like them more and what new services that deserves a better publicity? leave the negative criticism for us. we are not interested in what they do wrong, as we cannot fix that. but if we do things wrong or lose out in opportunities, do tell us, so that we can learn from your observations and make somewhere in... blog a better service. we often wish we had a magic wand to create the ulimate service, but developing revolutionary services really takes time, much more than we wished for, though we all work hard for new updates.
i got inspired for this post by seeing the fantastic response the blog gets in times of trouble, this time after the arrest of arifur rahman. modernising the society we live in is too serious to leave to a handful of people in the government and a one-way media. we need interactive media and multiple channels for people to share their views and raise their voices. i therefore welcome any good initiative that can create more bangla bloggers.

ভালো মন্দের আলোচনায় যেতে চাইলে আমি যেটা বলতে চাই যে,এটা দেখে খুবই ভালো লেগেছে যে বাধঁ ভাঙ্গার আওয়াজ এখন একটি নীতিমালা ও মডারেশনের মাঝ দিয়ে গড়ে উঠছে।বাংলা ব্লগিং এখনও তার শিশুকাল পারহচ্ছে,তাই তাকে গাইড দেয়ার জন্য এই মডারেশন দরকার।
সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে ব্লগের কিছু ডিস্টার্বিং নিককে ব্যন করার উদ্যোগ নিতে দেখলাম।
আমি আশাকরি মডারেটররা এই বার যে দৃঢ়তা ,সততা দেখাচ্ছেন সেটি অব্যাহত থাকবে এবং কোন হুমকি ধামকিতে বিভ্রান্ত হয়ে তারা নায্য কাজ থেকে ফিরে আসবেন না।
আপনার মাধ্যমে তাদেরকে ধন্যবাদ ।
একটি সুন্দর পরিবেশ তারা তৈরী করেই ফেলেছেন প্রায়।এখন এই ব্লগে গালাগালি দিতে বা বাজে আচরন করতে খুব একটা কাউকে দেখা যায় না।
দুই কারনে বিষয়টি ঘটছে :
১.গালি প্রবণ ব্লগারদের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নেয়ায়।
২.একই সাথে যাদের আচরনে বিরক্ত হয়ে অন্যরা গালি দেন,সেই বিরক্তিকর মুষ্টিমেয় ব্লগারদেরকেও ব্যন করে ব্লগে একটি সুন্দর,শান্তিময়,সুস্থির পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করায়।
আমি দৃঢ়ভাবে বিশ্বাস করি,মডারেটরদের এই তৎপরতা অচিরেই একটি যুগান্তকারী সাফল্য হিসেবে এই ব্লগে চিহ্নিত হবে।

haha, i guess that is my weak side that when i start talking or writing, i cant stop. i do not write to often, but when i write i have much in my mind.
the short version: bangladesh needs more bloggers. bloggers need to express themselves in bangla. bring the success stories up in the light and let us all learn what can be done better to reach out to more people. allowing more people to speak out through strong blogging platforms could help reforming an aspiring nation with a collaborative intelligence!

Now i see Arild is in competition. Actually the more you face competition the more you have to struggle in market and results sustainability.
so i have an indea to share. look in our country we are very fertile to have good production. but we have not wnough job market for those redundant polapains. but you must have accept that they have something in their brai, but they are not well-cultivated. i can give you an example if you stand in kamal ataturk road you will see many boys and girls passed or half passed and most of them are software engineers, but jobless. some of them are doing out sourcing work to make their stomach and mobile ring run. so there is a wide way to set a plan to promote these outsourcing culture. besides outsourcing works like script development, software gizmoes, mar mar kat kat games 3D are not established as a culture. so you have great scope to build up a monopoly. besides these blog is becoming much more famous now than ever. so you can keep a caption where some discription of script or web developing works can be kept. those who are interested will catch those make you informed about the updates.
this idea for now, later will come soon with more.

Arild, the service I'd like to publicize (as I've done before) is Bangla Wikipedia. Bangla wiki is not a blog, but with a very loosely knit collaboration of individuals, we are trying to achieve a similar dream: establishment of Bangla in the Digital realm.
We now have a sustainable set of core editors. I've written about the young enthusiastic Tarif Ezaz, who took the Bengali Language Movement to a Featured Article status while editing it via a cell phone! We have such dedicated users ... and we are ready to train more people.
One thing we have excelled over SomeWhereInBlog is perhaps our strict moderation. While I appreciate the huge effort of your staff in maintaining sanity, I think a dedicated set of superusers can enforce community rules better. And we have done that in Bangla Wikipedia very strictly ... so you don't see any libelous comments in any biographies over there (something many people tried to put in Politican bios ... but we moderated it).
Anyway, my post is to attract more people to Bangla Wikipedia .. http://bn.wikipedia.org . With our ever growing set of articles (not one liners, I'm referring to decent sized articles), we are in pursuit of our dream ... Bringing the World's information to our children, in BANGLA.

yes, i know we are moderating somewhat hard, and for some of you, your personal favorite bloggers disappear for shorter or longer period. there is no state of emergency on the blog, but where anarchy and very offensive postings ruled earlier, some sense of order and harmony has been created, at the cost of those who in our eyes have misused the freedom of speech and violated the rules.
the moderation process is a learning process for both us and you. as in any relationship, we can have a lot of fun together and enjoy the colourful moments of togetherness, but we must learn not to hurt each other. most issues can be resolved through improved communication and improved behaviour. we would like to give our severed relationships a second and third chance. sometimes staying away from each other makes the reunity better. where there is a will there is a way. think of your own relationship conflicts: some people you never allow to come back into your life, while for interesting friendships you would give an effort to rebuild a good relation. we would love to rebuild lost relationships when we understand each other better.

But to have a wonderful blogging site with so many interactive features was simply amazing. I registered immediately after being invited. However, not being able to type bangla very well and being so busy i stayed away from posting for almost a year.
I later informed some would be writers about the blog. But that was a bad time. I felt ashamed of referring the site to them beacuse of so much obscenity at that time.
Since then you have taken action and came up with good set of blogging rules & moderation policy. Thank you for that.
I also noticed that you've occasionally misused the moderation job. You definitely have the right to ban a blogger if he/she violates the blogging rules. But taking decision just based on number of complaints you receive against a user is unfair. You need to investigate the case raised against a user by others to see whether or not he/she has really violated your rules. Once you are certain that the rules are violated then take action. I thought the action taken against Ashraf Rahman was a hasty one without any justification and application of fairness. This is not because he is a seasoned blogger with respectable repute but because he simply did not violate any blogging rule. What he did was to share a news story published in a neighboring country's media, which was quite normal given his profession of being a radio journalist.
Anyway, I congratulate you for starting this wonderful Bangla Blog Site. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for such a good deed.
