1. Ed Cowan: latest score: 6, 26, 22, 74, 42, 16, 13, 35, 17, 8, 19, 16, 8, 1. That last 8 and 1 were against the Netherlands. Totally inexperience and played India and West Indies only. A strong candidate for LBW against Philander. Early wicket of him will create extra pressure to the top order.
2. David Warner: last few match scores: 2, 39, 21, 1, 8, 5. He is confident? Ya? Again, in swingers from Philander and little away going movements from Morkel and Philander will catch the bird. Always tend to be attacking. South African attack will really love it.
3. Rob Quiney: Inexperienced enough to feel the heat for the matches between SA and AUS. First class average is 37.70. Must be over excited and this should be utilized.
4. Ricky Ponting: This dude is really over excited and really dying to play and prove. Recently he is seen in an attacking mode. With Steyn in form and Philanders accuracy, his tendency to be fluent will back fire. Specially the out swingers from Steyn in real pace. Has problem with pacey in swingers also. A proper candidate for LBW trying to play on drive for a bit full ball on middle and leg.
5. Michael Clarke: Most powerful member of the team. I have seen him suffering a lot against dale Steyn’s out swingers and Morne Morkels bounce. Gotta get him early. So, the ideal would be attack him early with accurate bowling. Its accuracy of the bowler he is impatient of.
6. Michael Hussey: There are no special notes required as he knows well about his records against SA. Short balls a proper recipe but accuracy of bowlers will be enough to get him.
7. Matthew Wade: Again, inexperience player. He will be exposed against Steyn’s pace and vicious swing. He was successful against West indies by just slogging against the spinners and wasn’t really tested by short balls. Employ pacers for him.
8. Peter Siddle: I am not feeling shivering fear listening the name Peter Siddle as much as if it was the name of Dale Steyn. Just an average bowler and I would suggest SA batsmen not to be over cautious about him. Just keep him playing and wait for his bad balls. Just don’t be impatient about him.
9. James Pattinson: Another inexperienced kid in the team. Has not played a lot against the class of Amla, Kallis and Smith. Who would I avoid? Morkel or Pattinson? I would like to get rid of Morkel every time. I would have liked Pat Cummins here who can generate a lot of pace and bounce instead. Just don’t be over cautious against him.
10. Ben Hilfenhaus: Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Siddle, Pattinson and Hilfenhause. Look at the variation between SA and AUS pace attack. AUS pace attack is just got no variation! You prepare for one and will be automatically ready for the other. Hilfenhous is will rather give you some free bees so that you can score heavily.
11. Nathan Lyon: The best way to be prepared for Nathan Lyon is not be prepared for him. Cause he is a negligible player and giving him importance actually adds something for him. Don’t over attack him as they will remove him from attack and other better bowlers will be there. Milk him slowly.
