extending our family - humayun

humayun was brought to us from the large crowd that had gathered on the landslide spot of khushumbag, where eight people died. a boy of twenty years age whose biggest love was still his family, especially his loving mother. now, she would never again be there for him, calling his name. humayun will no longer be a boy, he had to become a strong man overnight, being responsible for his father and two younger brothers. humayuns mother had held his baby sister and baby brother to her chest when death took them away.
humayun´s father had no regular work, and may not be able to work for quite some time as he got injuries in his legs. their whole little community were ferri wallas, and not being able to walk is equal to no job. adding to the trouble, their small stock of sellable items together with all their belongings also got buried in the rubble.
humayun´s brothers, 15 and 12 years, are still in chittagong medical hospital. the elder you can see sitting in the hospital bed with a stitched and infected leg, but still being ok. his youngest brother will have to stay in the hospital with his severely injured leg stretched for at least six weeks. his hips, back, legs and throat got cut by the rubble, and he was pulled out of the mud alive.
the mudslide tumbled mud, tin, bricks, furniture, rods and people around as if they where in a gigantic washing machine. many people died by the cuts and internal injuries, even if they were not buried in the mud.
now humayun has to shoulder the responsibilities to raise his brothers as the fine men their mother would have loved to see them become. he has to care for them as well as feeding his family.
humayan works as an assistant in a glass factory, drawing some 1000-1200 tk in monthly salary. his father could in good months earn 2500 tk, but that income would now also be gone. are we as a community able to get humayun into a better place?
we want to help humayun to restart his life and bring up his two brothers. we will give them a simple, furnished place to live, feed them for three months but within that time he will need to find himself a job, hopefully better. it is not difficult for resourceful people to give him a better paid job, but how and who?
what we as a blog community could do is to search through our own networks and see if we have anyone that agrees to give humayun a new chance in their factory or office. we feel sure that this young man, in return for the support he is given, will be a very reliable and hard working guy. tell his story to your friends in chittagong, make them see that helping him is helping a family in need, so that he both can feed them and be there for them as their mother was there.

@kowshik thanks. mobilizing our own networks bringing a future for these people could be the best help that they get. i am not cool at all, just acting where i feel i have to.@ali please be inclusive and let there be room also for my english. let me write in the only language we both can express a little in. neither mine, nor your mothertounge, but i also want to be among you. if you exclude me, i cannot share my thoughts with this exciting community and i cannot get your feedback.
what we try to do is to get a translation up, but that may happen a day later.
@obaroj i wish humayun could blog with us to share his thoughts. humayun is not as fortunate as us and dropped out of school in class five to help his family earn enough for food. what would be beautiful, was our people visiting humayun, reading out our posts and comments to him, and write down his response and let him express himself to us. for anyone of you that ever get a chance to visit humayun, please do spend time with him, tell him about our community and write down what he would like to tell us. whether he wants to tell about the tragedy, or his happy life before, or his challenges ahead, or about a normal day in his life, such a post would be very interesting to read.

Well Aril, If you can make sure somehow his two younger siblings get a proper education at free of cost, it might help humayun bit more. Thnx for your initiative

আপনার কাজের ধরন সম্মন্ধে কোন কমেন্ট নেই।তবে ৩ মাসের জন্য চিকিৎসা সুবিধা দেয়ার উদ্যোগ প্রশংসনীয়।
কিছু প্রস্তাব ভেবে দেখা যেতে পারে।সাজেশনগুলো চট্টগ্রামের ব্লগারদের উদ্দেশ্যে :
*হুমায়ূনকে কুসুমবাগের কাছাকাছি কোন গার্মেন্টস ফ্যাক্টরিতে কাজ দেবার চেষ্টা করুন।ওভার টাইম সহ প্রারম্ভিক বেতন ২০০০ টাকার মতো হতে পারে যা ৬ মাস পরে আড়াই থেকে ৩ হাজারে যাবে।
*হুমায়ূনের ছোট ভাইটিও যথেষ্ট বড়ো এবং তাকে কোন অফিসে কিংবা দোকানে কাজে লাগানো যায়।আরিলের সাথে গ্রামীণ ফোনের কর্তৃপক্ষের পরিচয় আছে এবং তাদের চট্টগ্রাম অফিসে হুমায়ূনের ছোট ভাইকে একটি পিওন জাতীয় পদে কাজের সুযোগ দেবার জন্য আরিল হয়তো অনুরোধ করে দেখতে পারেন।কর্পোরেট রেসপনসিবিলিটি থেকে এই কাজ গ্রামীনের করার কথা।
এই দুইজনের রোজগারে জীবন ধারন কষ্টকর হলে ছোট ভাইটিকে সরকারী এতিম খানায় দেয়া ছাড়া গত্যন্তর নেই।
