ইতিহাস ইতিহাসই । একে বিকৃতও করা যায় না । কিন্তু বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাস নিয়ে বিতর্ক এখনও কাটেনি। প্রতিদিনই কোন না কোনভাবে নতুন কথা শুনি । আজ New York থেকে কলামিষ্ট আব্দুল গাফফার চৌধুরী বক্তব্য উদ্ধৃত করে একটা ই-মেল আসল। তিনি বলেছেন মুক্তিযুদ্ধে জিয়াউর রহমান পাকিস্তানের এজেন্ট ছিলেন। আপনাদের বিষয়টি অবগত করার জন্য ইংেরজী ই-মেল টেক্সটির হুবহু তুলে দিলাম।


Columnist Gaffar Chowdhury said “General Ziaur Rahman was not a freedom fighter; rather he was an agent of Pakistani intelligence agency. He is the anti-hero of Bangladesh’s history. He not only destroyed Bangladesh politically, he demolished the country economically and sold it out America, Pakistan and others fascists’ powers of the world”.

These were stated by Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, the writer of the famous song `Amar Bhayer Rokte Rangano Ekushey Feruary’ and renowned columnist and journalist, at the opening ceremony of ‘Hitlar theke Zia, a book written by Bangladeshi author Mina Farah at the Bangladesh Plaza at Jacksionheight, New York on Friday (May 2).

Gaffar Chowdhury said Ziaur Rahman sold Bangladesh to non-patriotic army who earn dollar from abroad and oppress the people of Bangladesh. He said as far as he knew Ziaur Rahman, he never took part in direct war in 1971. Moreover, he tried to keep contact with Pakistan during the liberation war and that’s why his Z-force became inactive.

Gaffar Chowdhury said Ziaur Rahman had an anger on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman as he appointed him the deputy Chief of Army without appointing the chief.

He started conspiracy against Sheikh Mujub which ended on August 15, 1975. He said colonel Faruk confessed in an interview in London that before killing Sheikh Mujib, they went to General Zia to inform him about the killing plot and zia told them `do whatever you can, don’t ask me anything’.

“So it is clear that Ziaur Rahman was the real conspirator of Sheikh Mujib’s killing”, he added.

Regarding General Zia’s name as the announcer of Bangladesh’s independence, Gaffar Chowdhury said that day Zia was sent to Soat Ship to recover arms and on the way he heard that Bangladesh independence was announced. Later, on March 27, 1971, he declared independence on behalf of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Kalurghat center, but the radious area of his declaration was only 12 miles.

He said the real history of Bangladesh’s independence was distorted and Zia was introduced by vested interests groups as a hero instead of his opposite role. He said since independence of Bangladesh, the conspiracy of vanishing the Bangabandhu family has still been existing and for that his daughter Sheikh Hasina has been confined in jail.

He suspected Sheikh Hasina might be killed by slow poisoning in jail. He said Zia’s wife Khaleda Zia completed his unfinished tasks skillfully during he tenure of power. The establishment of anti-war elements like Jamaat is the direct instance of it, he added.

About the present government of Bangladesh, Gaffer Chowdhury said “this government is nothing but the civil face of military”. He said playing the drama of 11th January, army has taken the project of saving BNP.

Gaffar Chowdhury appreciated the book of Mina Farah and thanked her for taking a bold step of writing such a book.

Writer Mina Farah in her speech said she spent such an amount of time and money for writing the book with which she could make two or three building of few million dollars.

She said the language and write-ups of the political columnists of our country are very weak which is unable to eliminate Ziaism and Golam Azam ism from Bangladesh. Living abroad she could realize it and took the step to write this book to uphold the truth, she added.

She said she already requested the Army Chief General Moyeen U Ahmed to name Zia Uddan as war memorial and remove Zia’s name from various establishments of the country. Terming Ziaur Rahman as the worst criminal she demanded his trial including the trial of all war criminals. She said wrote nothing in the book from her won brain, she got proof of everything.

The opening ceremony of the book was attended by Dr. Nurunnabi, Dr. Momen, Dr. Monsur Khan, Dr. Joti Prokash Barua, Syed Mohammad Ullah, and renowned Bangladeshi immigrants in USA.
