If we have a look all over the world then we can see that our thousands of labors back to the country loosing everything and as a result the financial crisis has created number of unemployed people increases gradually. But Grameenphone Ltd. is a profitable organization & its profit increases day by day sequentially. Here it is mentionable that, for some corrupted high official often GP is financially hampered & loosing its skilled manpower. For this GP is being hampered financially, socially, legally & was penalized hundred crores of BDT. And to recover this financial loss this illegal termination of employees has started by GP. On the other hand loosing job from GP hundreds of skilled, meritorious, educated young people of Bangladesh have become distressed. But that corrupted employees of GP are still in good situation and frequently driving GP employees and the mass people of the country in troublesome situations which is never expected.
After completion of education life from university we have served GP for three to five years. As a result our age limit of government service has already over. Not only this loosing job without any prior notice, at present we are deprived socially, economically and also from the family end. Moreover for instant sack from job of GP, no one is getting job according to his/her quality & experience. Here it is mentionable that, as per labor law of Bangladesh if any one doing job in any organization for six months and continue there then the employee will be appointed as a permanent employee by that organization. But after doing job for three to five years, in spite of making permanent, GP has sacked us instantly without any prior notice. This is fully the violation of Labor law & a brutal act. This means, GP intentionally wants that none of us will be employed in any other prestigious job sector of Bangladesh by utilizing previous experiences & operational information of GP. On the other hand, GP is right now recruiting fresh graduates in our positions in part time basis for its organizational cost curtail.
In order to protest this illegal activities of Grameenphone Ltd. we, the illegally terminated employees has taken some initiatives such as physically meet with Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh & submission of memorandum to the P.M. (02.01.2009), second time submission of memorandum to Honorable Prime Minister (04.04.2009), submission of memorandum to Posts & Telecommunication Minister of Bangladesh (13.04.2009), submission of memorandum to Minister of Expertise, welfare & Overseas (13.04.2009), physically meet with Law Minister of Bangladesh & submission of memorandum to the Minister (17.04.2009), arranged human chain in front of B.T.R.C.( Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission) & submission of memorandum to the Honorable Chairman of B.T.R.C. (18.01.2009), Second time submission of memorandum to the Chairman of B.T.R.C. (13.04.2009), arranged press conference in the Reporters Unit (02.01.2009), arranged human chain in front of Nation Press Club, Honorable Supreme Court of Bangladesh, GP head office- Delvistaa and some other peaceful activities. As a result GP reappointed some of the terminated employees and pushed rest of us again in the pain of unemployment.
To protest this defraud recruitment we tried to make a human chain in front of GP head office and some other places but we were stroke by police which is fully the violation of human right in a democratic country.
Here it is mentionable that, from the last 12.04.2009 we are continuing Stay-in-strike & peaceful demonstration in front of Central Shahid Minar and we have eager desire to continue our demonstration and other activities until the fulfillment of our legal demands with GP. Here many celebrity people of Bangladesh such as people from education sector, cultural sector, and political sector as well as mass people of the society have extended their hand of cooperation and direct support to us.
To conclude, we draw the kind attention of Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Telecommunication Minister, Law Minister, B.T.R.C., and human rights enforcement associations, national & international print & electronic Medias, elite society, law enforcement team and overall mass people of the country to extend hand of cooperation, taking necessary steps, and to participate at our various activities to solve our recruitment problem at GP from respective positions.
