Myanmar deployment mounts tension in Bandarban

Tension mounted on Naikhangchhari border in Bandarban as Nasaka, the border security force of Myanmar, has started erecting barbed-wire fence and made additional deployment of forces on its side.
Local sources said the Nasaka has started erecting barbed-wire fence from pillar No 41 to 45 on their side during the vacation of Eid-ul-Fitr.
But the Myanmar border security force suddenly deployed additional forces on the border area yesterday, escalating tension on the border area.
While contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Mizanur Rahman said Bangladesh has also taken necessary steps after Myanmar strengthened its military force on the border.
"The number of BDR personnel has also been increased in Bangladeshi Border Observatory Post (BoP)," he said.
Myanmar has started erecting barbed-wire fence along its border with Bangladesh in November last year as its naval ships intruded into Bangladesh maritime boundary for oil and gas exploration.
