বর্তমান বিশ্বে সবচেয়ে বেশী ভক্তি-শ্রদ্ধার সাথে যাঁর নাম স্মরণ করা হয় – তিনি হচ্ছেন মুহাম্মদ (সাঃ)। প্রায় দেড়-দুই বিলিয়ন মানুষ প্রতিদিন নিদেনপক্ষে কয়েকবার তাঁর নাম অত্যন্ত ভক্তি-শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করে থাকে। অন্যদিকে বর্তমান বিশ্বে সবচেয়ে বেশী ঘৃণা ও অশ্রদ্ধার সাথে যাঁর নাম উচ্চারণ করা হয় – তিনিও হচ্ছেন মুহাম্মদ (সাঃ)। এমনকি বর্তমান বিশ্বে "প্রফেট" বা "নাবী" শব্দটি উচ্চারণের সাথে সাথে মুসলিম-অমুসলিম নির্বিশেষে প্রায় সবার সামনে যাঁর নাম ভেসে ওঠে – তিনিও মুহাম্মদ (সাঃ)। মানব জাতির ইতিহাসে এমন ব্যতিক্রমমূলক ব্যক্তিত্ব আর দ্বিতীয়টি নেই। ইসলামের প্রত্যেকটি বিষয়ই যেনো একেকটি মিরাকলের মতো। আল-কোরআন নামক মহা-গ্রন্থটি হচ্ছে তাঁর মুখনিঃসৃত বাণী – তাঁর দাবি এবং প্রায় দেড় বিলিয়ন মানুষের বিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী আল্লাহ তথা এই মহাবিশ্বের স্রষ্টার বাণী – যে বাণীকে নূর তথা আলোর তৈরী জীব্রাঈল ফেরেশতার মাধ্যমে তাঁর কাছে পাঠানো হয়েছে।
