The 31st death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bongobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be observed across the country, as well as in other parts of the world, tomorrow in befitting manner. On August 15, 1975, Bongobondhu was brutally killed with most of his family members at his residence at Dhanmondi in the capital by some misguided members of the Armed Forces. Different political, cultural and social organizations have undertaken elaborate programs to mark the day with due honor. Awami League, led by the daughter of Bongobondhu, Sheikh Hasina, has declared elaborate program on the eve, which starts from today. The party is to hold a discussion meeting today at the auditorium of Engineers' Institution at 3pm, with its President Sheikh Hasina in the chair. On August 15, the party will raise national and party flags half-mast at Bongobondhu Bhaban and all its offices across the country. They will also raise black flags to express their grief over the barbaric killing. The party has called a half-day hartal on August 15 to protest the government decision not to observe as a national mourning day. Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) will place wreath at the portrait of Bongobondhu at the Bongobondhu Museum at Dhanmondi in the capital. They will hold a discussion meeting at their office on the achievements of Bongobondhu at 7 pm. Bongobondhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) has undertaken a four-day program to observe the death anniversary of Bongobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Activists of the organization will begin their program in front of the Bongobondhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi on August 14 and will also render mourning songs there.
