The date is Feb 2 and the place is Pennsylvania. Weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray), on hand to cover the Groundhog Day ceremony, is having one of the most unpleasant experiences of his life. It's one of those days when Murphy's Law seems to be in full effect. But Phil soon discovers that things are worse than they first seemed, because for him, and him alone, time has stopped. Now, he's trapped in a bizarre time loop that forces him to re-live Groundhog Day over and over, with no hope of reprieve or release, and no way of explaining the situation to anyone else since he's the only one who realizes what's happening. This film is all about discovering beauties of life. A closer look, like the day that passed yesterday. Did we see all the beauty in that day? Or did it slip by us, cluttered by the mishaps, by the annoyances, the small bothers, did they create, make up, contain, define your yesterday? What is happening to our yesterdays? Are we throwing them out like disposable razors. Still sharp, but used once and tossed. But what of yesterday? Did we throw it out half full? Half full of beauty? Where is that beauty? Yesterday’s beauty that went unnoticed by us? Where is it now? Groundhog day is a film full of beauty. If you watch it once and find it annoying, repetitive, boring even -- then I dare you to watch it again. Did you see any beauty that time? No? Watch it again? Did you get it? No? Watch it again. And again and again and again until you see the beauty. Why? Why subject yourself over and over and over? Because of all the yesterdays you threw away brimming with unfound beauty, ignored beauty, no fault of the beauty’s -- but yours. Watch it again, stop your whining, watch it again, until you understand, until you figure it out, till you see all the beauty in today. A 8/10 for me.
