Bhola, Sept 1 (UNB) - Awami League MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon on
Wednesday said he himself took bullet injured Ibrahim to Dhaka
Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on August 13, where he succumbed to
his injuries.

Talking to reporters at Bhola Press Club over telephone from an
undisclosed place, Shaon said he had mistakenly left his pistol in
his jeep out of hurry and perhaps Ibrahim suffered the bullet wounds
while making fun with his driver Kamal Hossain alias Kala, now under
police remand.

Asked why he fled the DMCH leaving Ibrahim’s body there, Shaon
avoided a direct reply and said “I was mentally upset at his death.”
He said he first informed the police about Ibrahim death.

Shaon alleged that a certain quarter is trying to damage his
political image and is misguiding Ibrahim’s family. “He (Ibrahim) was
not my opponent,” he said, adding the investigation will bring out
the truth.

Shaon’s driver Kamal Hossain Kala filed an unnatural death case with
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station on August 14.

Detective Branch of Police is now investigating the case since it was
transferred to DB police on August 17.

After reviewing the postmortem report, ballistic and DNA test, and
statements of different people, DB police confirmed that the death of
Ibrahim was a case of clear murder, not the result of accident.

The detective police are now interrogating Kala and Shaon’s personal
secretary Sohel, on three-day remand from Tuesday, to find out the
actual killer.
