Microsoft has sold 90 million Windows 7 licenses since its October 2009 launch, Microsoft announced Wednesday.
The announcement came from chief financial officer Peter Klein, who appeared at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.
"We're humbled and excited that people are responding so positively to Windows 7--our customers have made it the fastest selling operating system in history," a Microsoft spokesman wrote in a blog post.
At the conference, Klein also showed off some Windows 7-based laptops, including the Sony Vaio X, the Dell Adamo XPS, and the HP Envy 13.
