This post is in response to the call of a brother asking for atheists to engage in a debate with the theists. I shall invite both parties here to come with open mind and help us finding the truth while I myself would like add my views with the role of an atheist. So I am proposing the way to start below while any one is welcome with different approach as well.

It's difficult to come to any conclusion regarding the existence of God from either side. Neither an atheist nor a theist can present any solid proof in favor of his stand. But it doesn't mean the discussion is over. Let me explain the scope here.

Any theist who believes in some sort of religion must believe in a particular form of God pertaining that religion. Rather than proving that there is "Nothing" it's easier to disprove that there is "Something" in a specific shape with some distinct attributes. So it's easier for an atheist to prove that the concept of God in a particular religion is erroneous. In other sense he can debunk arguments in favor of any religion using by disproving the claims of that very religion.

So lets think we have a handful of religions and an atheist proves religion 'A' is false, again he proves religion 'B' or 'C' is false in the same way. Thus he he can prove any religion is false that gives him the ground that there cannot be a God the way the religious people like to think. And thus he dismisses the probability of a God existing the way He is described in different religious scriptures.

For me, a religious person doesn't need to go that far. It's because he always thinks his own religion is only the correct one. So if that particular religion can be proved false, I believe the purpose of the discussion is already served.

Now if the method is ok for you, I can engage in the discussion immediately with anyone from any religion. But it should be one religion at a time. Since we have around 90 percents of Muslims in Bangladesh, I shall be happier to engage with a Muslim first.


Hope we shall respect logic and critical reasoning and be less offended by the facts brought onto the table of discussion.
