It was a busy day yesterday. Though fruitful,it took a lot of juice out of me.
On Wednesday, after my class I was on the way to Chittagong. Rahil vai called me and told that Talha vai along with another “€œSomewhere In”€ guy was coming to Chittagong and they would be very happy if I could join them. I assured Rahil vai that it would be my pleasure to accompany them.

On the next morning, no sooner had I finished my breakfast than Talha vai called and told me to come to their hotel as soon as I can. When I reached there Talha vai introduced me with Tarik vai ( the other guy from “€œSomewhere in”€).Then they briefed me about their plan. They seemed very eager to start the rehabilitation work for the selected victim of the Chittagong Landslide tragedy.

Our first job was to buy all the necessary stuffs for Hymaun's family( Arild mentioned about him in his blog).Tarik vai and I went to buy those things and Talha vai went to get a camera from his ex-colleague.
It took pretty less time to do this then we thought. Then we called Humayun to join us ( before that Humayun let us knew that he managed a house for his father and brothers). He came half an our later and he could not believe in his own eyes what he saw. He gave Talha vai a huge hug and it was tears coming out his eyes. His smile made us feel something deep inside our heart. We went to his new house at Kusumbug. We had a very long discussion with him about his future plan. Talha vai was trying hard to give him a mental boast up. He has no job yet but he told us that he is going to manage one very soon. We made him understood that its very necessary for him and his family as we are not going to stand beside him for an infinite period of time. His two younger brothers who are in CMC are now feeling better.

We also heard that the widow is back from Comilla after his husband's funeral. We first planned to buy stuffs for the widow than canceled it and decided to visit her first. Humayun told us that she probably managed a house for her own but we found her staying in her brother's house. Talha vai again here took a long time to motivate her to get things over and have a fresh start, at least for the sake of her young baby. We gave her some money and told to let us know when she finds a new house for herself so that we can then help her with our plan. We expect a call from her within 10 to 15 days.

Our next destination was Chittagong Cantonment. We went there but it seemed that it it was not our day. We had to wait at the MP check post for about 3 hours as our Honorable President was there in the cantonment. After explaining our cause of visiting they assured us to give access but only after the Honorable President leaves. When we started it was almost 4 pm. From our last week's visit we knew that LebuBagan was far away from the MP post and we were anxious about such a long walk but we were fortunate enough to find a CNG taxi which was going to CMH.

We first visited Belayet and her daughter. As I mentioned in the previous post that Belayat lost his 7 children and her daughter lost her husband. Last time we did not meet Belayat as he was not there but this time we found that he is mentally strong enough. But her daughter still don't know what to do next. She worked in a local garments factory as an operator but now don't go to work for her young baby. She is thinking of buying a sewing machine and do something in her home or going back to work if her mother can take care of her baby. We never enforced her to select any option but reminded her to get herself busy with work as soon as she can because its the way that she could get over those horrible experience. They could not believe that we are back again to see them as nobody came back to them after their first visit. We told them to keep trust on us and now it seems that they are counting on us. We made them understood that we are with them and if they work hard they can live better than they were. The situation became emotional when Talha vai went inside to give Jannat ( Belayat's daughter) some money that we had for her. She was telling that her lost brothers were back in form of us!! We told her to become strong and work hard so that one day we can become happy seeing herself happy enough.

Next we went to meet Fahinoor and her father. She is quite okey now and willing to join work from the next Saturday. Her father hasn't yet fully recovered from injury. As we were running out of time we cut the discussion short and made it strictly to the point. They told us that they are really trying hard to come out of this bad patch and the spirit that we saw in their eyes was really amazing. We told them that we kept our word by coming back and now its their time to show us that they are really capable of doing something great. They assured us that when we will be coming back after a month we will find them in a better state. And forgot to mention, yet they have no permanent house but they will let us know as soon as they get one.

And last but not the least was Aklima. When we reached her house she had just returned from the Jahangir Lane School camp. She was with a happy smile seeing us coming back. Her mother is still in CMH and she now stays in her cousin's house. From the very beginning we watched an strong determination in her eyes. She is also trying to return to her job in the local garments factory as soon as she can. We told her not to feel alone as we are always with her. I found her mentally very strong. She even refused to take more money from us as she felt she need no more. Even though Talha vai gave her some money and told her some of will come back to see her again.

When we were coming back it was almost dark in the hills. But we were felling good as our job was done. Actually the happy faces of these guys made us feel good after a day long hard work. My mom kept calling me to get back soon as my cousins were waiting for me at home. So we were in a hurry. I was fortunate enough to join the dinner with them. Talha vai and Tarik vai went back to the hotel and they will be leaving for Dhaka today. Back at home I was so tired i slept as soon as i had my dinner. Now giving you guys the update of our work.
