MY recommendation that control of civil leadership should be enforced and displayed in all spheres of the goverment and administration of the country. It is indeed distatsteful to see two uniformed officers standing next to the heads of government and state on all occasions.
The first president of the U.S., General George Washington, resigned his military commission prior to taking oath of office to display and enshrine the supremacy of civilian rule over all matters of the republic. That was over two hundred years ago--let Bangladesh start following the same example now!
Once again, our heartfelt sympathies and prayers for the loss of life and peace in Bangladesh! Let this unfortunate event awaken our senses and raise us above partisan politics and take well-thought steps for the betterment of the country and the people--Amen!
