‘Journalism is a privileged cultural form’ (McNair: 2002).

To be honest, the socio-economic aspects, opportunities of practicing power in a state- apparatus, easy ways of becoming a renowned personality at home and abroad and so many factors did influence me choosing this field for my academic and professional career.

From the day one of my journey to the department of mass communication and journalism at University of Dhaka, I had come to realize the importance of the `Getting Connected’ to the people.

Fortunately, I got the `Online’ as the easiest way of getting connected to the people of home and abroad, and have been utilizing the platform to know the new happenings around the world and making others knowing them (news) as well.

We have observed that, war and collusions not only have influenced the journalistic approaches of getting news, but also had introduced a good number of new methods in terms of reaching the news to the audience.

Many of western researchers argue that, the 9/11 incident has brought into focus a new journalistic approach like `Online Journalism’ which has been becoming more popular since then.

Moreover, we have noticed, how people depends on online in a crucial time like `Arab Spring’, even though they had choice of other traditional media. It is because; only the online journalism has given the chances to the audience getting the news in the quickest time, sharing the news, putting comments on it and storing the news as well. As a student of mass communication, I always evaluate this matter with a great importance which has made me interested to write something regarding this aspect, obviously.

I firmly believe, online journalism has given a big puss in the news world, which makes me recognize that, it has not only the power of getting easy access to information in the shortest time to the consumers, comparison to other traditional media, but also created a belt of global community.

I would like to say- the discussion of sociology of journalism is getting an older paradigm whereas the `sociology of journalism in New Media’ demands more.
I firmly believe, the sociology of journalism in new media has taken the form of a debate between two ways of looking at how the social world is organized and the role of new media in sustaining that organization.

Journalism can bring down governments, influence wars, shift stock markets, destroy industries, set an agenda of public debate, demolish someone’s long reputed professional/political carrier, create consciousness for a greater interest, and investigate a issue with a `third spectacles’ as well.
It has become the main sources of knowledge about the world and places we live in, and the point at which the individual and the social world meet.

No doubt, we are living in an `informative society’ (social research: 2005) which has been leading us towards becoming dependent on technology. So, I can’t but say that, post modern societies are emphasizing on adaptation to new technologies, especially computer and internet, to make our life easier and more comfortable.

In fine, though I am little bit interested of becoming an online journalist, to some extend- I am playing my role as an active citizen journalist and wish to become a renowned freelancer; however, I believe, this is no matter which profession someone select as their career apart from journalism, but new media and online acquaintances will make them quite adoptable with postmodern -informative society as a skilled person obviously.
