Introduction
Islamic University of Technology (IUT),
Dhaka, a subsidiary organ of the
Organisation of the Islamic Conference
(OIC) is mandated by OIC to develop
human resources of the Member States
in the fields of engineering, technology
and technical education. The objectives
of the IUT include imparting technical
knowledge at various levels, upgrading
skills, conducting research and sharing
specialized technical expertise among the
member states of the OIC. The Road Map
for the Development of Socio Economic
and Scientific Issues adopted after the
Third Extraordinary Summit of OIC
recommends the closing of the digital
gap. This is also one of the important
activities of the 10 year Action Plan.

Course Objectives
Over the last few years, IUT has offered
several short courses and workshops on
different topics on computing
technologies. Based on the necessity of
further requirements, CIT Dept. is going
to offer a three-day long international
workshop on "Video Streaming &
Medical Informatics”. Keeping in view
the latest trend of the field, this
workshop will enable one to focus on new
research direction.

Course Outline
The workshop consists of lectures and
practice sessions in the Computer
Science and Information Technology
(CIT) Department of IUT.

Participants
Faculty members of various universities
including IUT along with post-graduate
students and professionals are expected
to join to acquire some latest academic &
research knowledge in the field.

Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction for the
workshop will be English.

Venue and Climate
The workshop will be held in the
premises of IUT campus at Board Bazar,
Gazipur, Bangladesh; about 30 km north
of Dhaka city centre (Latitude 23043’ N
and Longitude: 90025’ E) and 11 km
away from the Zia International Airport
on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
Bangladesh is a beautiful country with
meandering rivers and canals adding to
the scenic beauty. It has mighty rivers,
royal Bengal tigers and a rich cultural
heritage. The weather during November
is generally mild and fare and the
temperature ranges from 19 to 300C.

Registration
The participant will have to register for
the workshop on 8:30 A.M. of 22nd
February 2010 at the Board Room,
Administrative Building, IUT. Registration
fee for the workshop is Tk. 2,000/= (Two
Thousand) for participants.

The participants shall fill in the prescribed
Application Form (attached), also
Nominations by appropriate authority of
the applicants willing to participate
should be sent to the workshop organising
secretary latest by the 15th February
2010. Early application is encouraged
