Thought I don’t know his name. I hired him from chandgaon for Mehedibag. After travelling a minute we stuck in traffic which always occurred due to flyover construction at Bahdddarhat. In between that we had little chat. In the mean time He just said “আই আইজিয়া ফইলা চিটাগং শহরত আসসি…আরর বারি আনয়ারা” (This is my first day at Chittagong town & my village is at Anowara). Then I replied “ভালা” (oki). Then he’s saying that, “আরর তে অজ্ঞু দুয়ান আসিল…ফইসা নাই, ঘর চানাইন ফারির এত্তারলাই চিটাগং আসসি রিস্কা চালাইবার লাই” (I had a little shop at my village, But I am having shortage of money and I cant bear my family expenses too that’s why I had to came Chittagong). Then I asked him “রিক্সার জমা কত টাকা দেইলি?” (How much do you need to pay for the Rickwsha daily?). He replied, “১২০ টেয়া” (120 taka). Then he’s saying “২০০ টেয়ার মত কামাই আজিয়া…আর চালাইন ফারির…বারিত জাইয়ম গুই…” (I earned 200 taka today and I am unable to pull anymore, will go home after dropping you). Then I said, “জমার টেয়া দেনর ফর তয়ার তে তই ৮০ টেয়া থাইব…৮০ টেয়া দি কিরিবা?” (you will have only 80 taka after paying your daily rickwsha rent, what you will do with that?). He just gave me a depressed look…then after reaching at Mehedibad I gave him 50 taka and took this photo. And I realized some people who are in this town surviving only for 80 taka. and some are……….
