In Bangladesh, Fishery becomes popular and it is increasing in the country day by day and this country has been among the top five fish cultivating countries for many years. Bangladesh is the best place in the world for sweet water fish cultivation. So Present Government pays more attention to fish cultivation and assists the farmers for more production. The country will produce a total of 4.55 million tonnes (MT) fish likely in the country by the fiscal year (FY) 2020-2021 to fulfill the demand for fish by the increasing population. In the 2015-2016 FY, the country has a demand for 4.05 million tonnes fish as per 60 gram daily per capita intake of fish and this requirement would be 4.52 million tonnes in the FY 2020-2021. Fish production was 3.68 million tonnes in the FY 2014-2015. This production marks rapid growth this marked a 6.23 per cent annual growth on average over the last five years. Now the contribution of fishing sector to the country's GDP is 3.69 per cent. At present Bangladesh has become the 4th largest inland freshwater fish producer in the world. So Fishery may contribute remarkable to develop our economy.
