Upon arrival, guests entered the cocktail reception area and were greeted with an exhibit of gowns by Michael Costello Couture. The evening dresses, including the white stunner he designed for Beyonce, will debut in May at The Grammy Museum. Excited fans could be seen shooting selfies before settling down, eagerly anticipating a transcendent fashion production. Cool catsuits, gorgeous kaftans, wide-legged trousers, and plunging necklines were just some of the trends seen on stage.

Project Runway alumni Michelle Lesniak, Dom Streater, Patricia Michaels, and Daniel Esquivel, as well as Michael Costello, came together to share their unique points of view, with Lesniak of Project Runway Season 11 opening the show.

Lesniak's whimsical hot air balloon inspiration appeared on models wearing print-patterned, high-wasted bikinis sporting tassel accents. Color, balloon sleeves, and parachute-type material made for beautiful draping and asymmetrical lines floated airily on the runway. The designer’s tiered maroon cocktail dress drew an elated reaction from onlookers.

Dom Streater’s modern prints emphasized her refined textile design technique. Architectural in structure, her aesthetic demonstrated form as well as function, incorporating charcoal and white bold graphics into her styling. Neck ruffs produced an artsy touch to the hip ensembles.

Patricia Michael, also a Project Runway Season 11 alumna, created a beautiful palette of soft earth tones to reflect the beauty of nature. Carrying hand-painted custom parasols, models graced the catwalk in an array of bountiful blues, golds, and blushes adorned with beads, buttons, and feather detailing. The regal silhouettes breathed an air of sophistication and poise while tapping into the strength of ultra-feminine power.

Daniel Esquivel wowed the crowd with his take on high fashion and street-wear, featuring an assortment of two-piece ensembles, such as his tuxedo romper and a flipped-collar, double-breasted blazer combined with shorts. His elegant evening and cocktail statements were also a hit, featuring dramatic raffia evening attire. Intricate fabric, beading, lace overlays, and pops of red were stand out details.

Prior to the show’s finale, Michael Costello Couture concluded the visual sensation with a sneak peak of his upcoming collection to debut at Fashion Week El Paseo on March 25. As the five Project Runway comrades happily took to the spotlight together, their glamorous efforts were rewarded with a standing ovation.
