Laxmipur: A schoolgirl was kidnapped by miscreants in Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon. The victim was identified as Israt Jahan Urmi, a Class X student of Birahimpur High School and daughter of Shah Alam Khokon of Birahimpur village in the upazila.

Police and locals said a group of 4/5 criminals, led by Morshed, son of Abul Kalam of the village, picked up the schoolgirl while she was going to her house to have lunch during the break period.

Later, they left the scene in a microbus along with Urmi.
