Assalamu alaykum people. I realise some people might be wondering "What is this person doing here?" Well I have come to give you the complete and comprehensive answer.

While I am a person of Jamaican and English-German background who has grown up in the West. I live in Australia which is a multicultural society and so there is no surprise that I have married a Bengali who migrated here some years ago. He speaks very good english mashAllah so we've never had communication problems.

My husband is obviously very connected with his birth country and still reads the bangla blogs all the time. Whenever he does this he is always khub interested in what he is reading, sometimes laughing at what is being said. Since he was enjoying himself very much I wanted to know what was so interesting too. This is how I became aware of this blog and got encouraged to sign up and make my own.

So please forgive me for not knowing bangla. One thing you should know about this blogger is that I wish I did know bangla, but now is not the right time for me learn as I have to learn arabic so I can learn more about my deen first. I am making very good progress in that area, so inshAllah I will soon move on to bangla.

My inlaws all live in Bangladesh and it is a beautiful country with wonderful landscape--I know because I visited there last year for a month.. I love spicy food and the people are so welcoming and helpful. I love the community and how everyone is concerned with one another. Life is different to here, but this is good. It is also a highly populace country with mostly all being Muslim, and as a Muslim this makes me care even more for the people because they are connected to me by the sole fact that they are believers too.

So this is my story and why I am on the blog. Hope this clears up a lot of misunderstandings.
