The Ozone layer of our Earth’s Stratosphere is well on the recovery process.

The layer shields our planet earth from cancer-causing ultraviolet rays showing early signs of thickening after years of depletion. A recent UN study report on Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion 2014, published jointly by the United Nations Environment Program UNEP & the World Meteorological Organization WMO confirms the fact.

We live in the Earth's troposphere, the first layer. Just above this is the second layer Stratosphere. This second layer holds ninety percent of Earth's Ozone trapping the Sun's harmful UV rays to protect lives on Earth's surface. The stratospheric ozone layer, a fragile shield of gas, protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Concerns about thinning ozone layer depletion in the upper atmosphere or stratosphere led to ratification of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer by the international community in 1987. The protocol restricts the manufacture and use of human-made, ozone-depleting compounds, such as Chlorofluorocarbons CFCs and Halons.
Without the Montreal Protocol, the ozone depleting substances could have increased tenfold by 2050. According UNEP, the Protocol would have prevented alone 2 million cases of skin cancer annually by 2030, and averted damage to human eyes and immune systems, and protected wildlife and agriculture..
The findings of UNEP study confirmed by the Satellite observations of NASA, evidencing the Ozone depletion is scaling down gradually and thickening is on. The ozone hole that appears annually over Antarctica has also stopped growing bigger every year.
Well, along with positive developments the production of greenhouse gas like, CFC still on the rise. Off course, Controlling these gases [CO2, CFC] rather difficult and time consuming as these are central to so many facets of human life.
The very global concerted efforts in saving our Planet deserve appreciations and demand continued support to expedite the process of recovery.
