There is a lot that is unknown and that produces two basic emotional state in all living beings - Fear and Curiosity. Fear of the unknown is what makes one religious and what religions thrive upon. Whereas, Curiosity of the unknown makes one skeptic and that's what science thrive upon. What comes out of your psychological temperament depends on what kind of emotion you feed in to your consciousness. Chances are that people who are able to transform their fears into curiosities are what world calls the successful and the courageous ones.
