সাধারণত ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হলে আর কোন উপায় না থাকলে উইন্ডোজ রিইনস্টল করতে হয়। এতে শুধু সি ড্রাইভের সবকিছু ফরম্যাট করতে হয় তথা সবকিছু ডিলিট হয়ে যায়। তাই উইন্ডোজ রিইনস্টল করার আগে সি ড্রাইভে রাখা গুরুত্বপূণ ফাইল অন্যকোন ড্রাইভে বা অন্যকোন ডিস্কে(সিডি,ডিভিডি,পেন ড্রাইভ ইত্যাদি) সেভ করে রাখা যেতে পারে।

উইন্ডোজ রিইনস্টল করার প্রথম ধাপ হচেছ বায়োসে ঢুকে ফার্স্ট ড্রাইভ হিসাবে সিডি/ডিভিডি রমকে নির্দিষ্ট করে দেয়া।

বায়োসে যাওয়ার জন্য কমিপউটার যখন স্টার্ট হবে তখন F2 বা Del কী চাপতে থাকতে হবে। অনেকসময় একটানা কোন কী ধরে রাখলে এরর মেসজ দিতে পারে, তাই ক্রমাগত চেপে গেলে আর কোন সমস্যা হবে না। এরপর আর কি কি করতে হবে তা নীচে ইংরেজীতে বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে। এই বর্ণনা আমার নিজের লেখা !!

ওহ, উইন্ডোজ রিইনস্টল করার আগে উইন্ডোজ সেইফ মোডে গিয়ে কোন এন্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়ার দিয়ে স্ক্যান করে দেখা যেতে পারে, যদিও ভাইরাসরা সাধারণত: এন্টিভাইরাসকে লোড হতেই দিবে না। সেইফ মোডে যাওয়ার জন্য স্টার্টের সময় F8 বারবার চাপতে হবে।

Windows XP installation using CD
-------------------------------------------------
-Start your pc
-press Del button or F2 button
-Bios setup utility pops up
-Go to Boot section and drive segment, give 1st drive as your cd or dvd rom.Generally first drive will be your harddisk.
-On the top menu, go to exit using arrow,press enter and move cursor to ok. It says exit after saving the change. We want it and so hit enter on the OK.

Now the second phase begins
-enter the windows XP installation cd in the cd rom
-The computer should detect it and a window pops up stating windows setup
-press F3 to continue(or whatever key suggested in the screen)
-Next it asks whether you want to repair or reinstall
-For reinstall,it asks whether you want to Format
-Normally Formatting of C drive where windows is installed is required.
-There are 3 types of formatting. It is safe to give NTFS file format option(not the quick one)
- From here division of your hard disk to several drives or deleting one or several drives could be done
-When you start formatting C drive for installing windows, at first computer check something and then start copying files.
-It may take around 30 minutes for copying file depending on some factors.
-When copying is done, take out the installation cd and insert the driver cd into the cd rom.
-The procedure to install driver for audio,video is mentioned above
-At the end you may see that standby button is blurred. To make it working you may try to reinstall the drive for PCI ethernet

Cable connecrtion may be loose

-Sometimes cable connection with the mother board and cd rom or other devices may be loose. Check out this aspect.

Device Manager
------------
Right click after bringing the cursor on My Computer icon(this icon become higlighted) on the desktop.Click Manage and computer management window pops up. On that window see there is device managaer in the left menu. Clicking this menu, different items of the computer may be found. If something wrong(like driver is needed), a yellow question mark icon could be seen on the specific device itme.

Installing driver for a device

- One method using the cd provided with mother board.
- insert the cd inside the cd rom
- now go to device maanger through the procedure mentioned above
-right click and a list appears. Select update driver. Then a wizard appears. Select manual installation from cd. In the next window, browse the location of the cd. Check mark both the option. Now driver installation should be started.
