Being a woman, I must say it is turning way too difficult to live in a country like Bangladesh. I mean where do I even start. There is so so much wrong in this place, especially when it comes to women. The urban areas somehow can still be considered as an okay, though the situations are getting day by day, but the rural areas are the worst, where women are treated in the worse possible manner.


People, I am referring to the media show offing guys and the current government of Bangladesh, here talk a lot about equality between genders yet when it comes to women they are always under privileged by the society as well as the the government itself. If we see the working sector like multinational companies we will notice that there are more men involved compared to that of women. This is primarily because the girls are not encouraged to go school at the first place, let alone think about higher education. They will either be set up for labor work or be just married off, so that they don't have to take the "load" of her. Yes, that is the harsh reality in my country. Even if she makes it to the job, there is a high chance she is likely to leave it as she is subject to sexual  harassment from the male colleagues and boss as well. Not to mention, their pay scale which usually quite lower than that of their collegues just because of their gender. Also there are people who never stop commenting regardless of how the woman is. Even if a woman or a girl is showing great progress in work people will say that the girl achieved the success only because of her looks or she had done something else 'not to so appropriate' to get to this level. These things are really disgusting but sadly this is happening and the society acts as if this is normal!

Another sad thing is that due to the recent development of "islamic extremism" in Bangladesh, women are now put in a pressure and are bound to made to wear hijab without their will. This is because there are people who consider that women who do not wear hijab/burka can subjected to anything including rape. So isn't it going against a woman's will?

Being a woman in my beloved county Bangladesh country is nothing less than a living in hell. You have everything possible thing to bring you down. I myself is sick and tired of the people around. The society and their narrow minded thinking sickens me every time I breath. Life there is toxic. It's quite hard to believe that we are still considered weaker sex in this 21st century. Aren't we humans? Don't we have our rights? Where is your equality now?
