The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry expressed its apprehension over sending intended hajj pilgrims to perform Hajj this year in a proper manner

The minister of the ministry also expressed same view.

The parliamentary standing committee recommended taking necessary initiatives to ensure performing the upcoming Hajj by intended hajj pilgrims properly.

The committee made the apprehension and recommendation at its meeting at the Head Office of Bangladesh Biman of Balaka Bhaban at New Airport in the capital.

The meeting discussed the overall sides of upcoming Hajj and Hajj flights and asked all to be conscious to perform the Hajj in a proper manner.

Presided over by Chairman of the Standing Committee Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, the meeting was attended, among others, by the minister of the ministry GM Quader, Whip Md Mujibul Haque, Syed Mohsin Ali, Moin Uddin Khan Badal, Md Faridul Haque Khan, Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury, Md Aslamul Haque and secretaries and high officials of the ministry.

After the meeting, Engineer Mosharraf told the journalists “If the all preparation has been finished, but the apprehension is existing now. Because the numbers of intended hajj pilgrims is double than previous year.”

“We recommended taking necessary initiatives to avert any untoward situation to ensure the upcoming Hajj properly,” he said.

Supporting the speech of Engineer Mosharraf, GM Quader said, “The time scheduled of the Hajj flights of this year is very tide, difficult situation may be happened to carry hajj pilgrims fairly if little problems are created.”

But he assured that the concern authority is conscious about the matter. Any problem would not be created this year, he claimed.

The meeting was informed that 93, 732 hajj pilgrims will perform Hajj this year while the figure of last year was about 54,000. At least 10 airlines will be used to carry the hajj pilgrims and 95,400 can fly by the airlines.

The Hajj flights would be started from October 8 and returning flight will begin on November 21.

The meeting further informed that two B-747 aircrafts have been leased to carry around 45,000 hajj pilgrims this year. Besides, DC 10-30 aircraft and third courier will be used if it is necessary.
