Today I will describe the human situation of SOUTHKHALI union @ Shoronkhola Upozila in Bagerhat.
There were about 18000 people at that upozila & approximately 3000 were missing. I visited a whole village where it is difficult to go as there was no way to go inside. When I went very deep in the village I found two dead bodies of two children those were totally decomposed at all. I tried to talk with lot of family and people about the situation when the SIDR hit.
The whole day before the SIDR attack, the total environment was normal but sometimes of it was raining so slowly but there was no air at all. At night approximately when many people were taking their dinner and many people were in cyclone center for the whole night. At a sudden when the SIDR came, it came with huge water with a high velocity.
One said to me that he just came out with his child and the water with a height of a large house size that flooded everything. The water stay about 25 minutes and people those were inside the house were buried in that. Those were outside thrown directly with a distance about 4 to 6 km. It is totally unimaginable. All the tree of Southkhali is totally destructed and many of large tree is twisted. The scene is unbelievable to you. There were 100 shops at the front of southkhali which has no indication at all. The animals were also vanished.
I saw many place of SIDR. But southkhali is the place where everything is vanished. This union is the mouth of sea & Balessor River. So SIDR comes out from sea to the locality by this way. That’s why it is affected most.
