১৯৬৯ সালের এই ছেলেটি ঢাকার রাস্তায় যেন মিছিলে নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছিলো। এই ছবিটা তুলেছিলেন বিখ্যাত আলোকচিত্রী রশীদ তালুকদার। কিন্তু অত্যন্ত দুঃখের বিষয় ছবিটা তোলার মিনিটখানেকের মধ্যেই পুলিশের গুলিতে মিছিলের নেতৃত্ব দেয়া বাচ্চাটি মারা যায়।

আমাদের গৌরবময় অধ্যায়ের খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ হিসেবে ছিলেন ভিনদেশী কিছু মমতাময় মানুষ। অস্ট্রেলিয়ান নাগরিক ওডারল্যান্ড যিনি এ দেশের মানুষের অধিকার আদায়ের যুদ্ধে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়েছিলেন। যুদ্ধ শেষে পেয়েছিলেন বীর প্রতীক খেতাব। তোমায় ভুলিনি ওডারল্যান্ড।

আগরতলা বিমানবন্দর ট্রানজিট ক্যাম্প,রিফিউজিরা খাবারের লাইনে দাঁড়িয়ে আছেন(তখন ট্রানজিট ক্যাম্পে ৬ ঘণ্টার বেশি রাখা হলে রিফিউজিদের খাবার রান্না করে দেওয়া হতো)।তখন একে তো ত্রিপুরায় খাবার পৌঁছানো ছিল কষ্টকর.. তার উপর রিফিউজিই ছিলেন ১১ লক্ষ,যেখানে ত্রিপুরার লোকসংখ্যা ছিল ১৫ লক্ষ।প্রতিদিন খাবারের প্রয়োজন ছিল ৬০০ টন সেখানে US airlift দিত ২০০ টন। সেটাও ১৮ই জুলাই,১৯৭১ এর পর বন্ধ হয়ে যায়।তখন Indian airforce lift খাবার বিতরণ শুরু করে কিন্তু তারা দিনে মাত্র ১০ টন দিতে পারতো... কি ভয়াবহ অবস্থা ছিল,চিন্তা করুন..

One of the important sector commanders of the Mukti Bahini (Liberation Army) is Major Khaled MUSHARRAF (32), who was a brilliant young regular officer in the East Bengal Regiment. There is no question of ultimate victory. He is confident, and time depends only and how much arms they get. The Liberation Army training camp is in the Eastern sector of Bangladesh. At this camp, one of many already in operation, 600 volunteers, schoolboys, village youths, shopkeepers are receiving training on machine gun and light machine guns.]
