Ambassador of Sweden Johan Frisell has said that all societies have diversities and with their diversities, society move forward.

He was addressing at an award giving ceremony of best video clip producers titled – ‘Bandhu Mane Ki’ which was organized by Bandhu Social Welfare Society (BSWS) at its conference room today.

Presided over by Anisul Islam Hero, BSWS Chairperson, Mr. Leo Kenny, Country Director, UNAIDS and Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Member-Executive Member, BSWS were present as special guests. Shale Ahmed, Executive Director of BSWS facilitated the event. Fosiul Ahsan, Deputy Director, Program, BSWS, Karamot Ullah Biplob, Special Correspondent, ATN Bangla and Akhil Podder, Special Correspondent, Ekushey Television were also addressed among others.

Chief Guest Jhon Frisell also said, communication is very effective tool to surface the voice of sexual minorities. He urged all to use this tool to boost up creatively, networking and knowledge sharing along with placing their health care and human rights issues. The initiative of producing video documentary would be very effective tool to share sexual minorities among the mass people.

Perceiving with the goal to raise voices of adolescents and young Transgender and MSM on their conception about friendship and to get their voices heard by the mass populations, Bandhu Social Welfare Society (BSWS) had organized a short video clip competition titled “Bandhu Mane Ki? It was an innovative approach by BSWS to boost creativity among young and adolescent MSM and TG in Bangladesh.

A total of 28 competitors from several districts had participated in the competition and they produced video clips where they shared their thoughts on the concerned topic. The participants mostly used their personal smart phone, cell phone camera or digital cameras to shoot the pieces. Out of 28, 5 best participants had been awarded. The Video clips will be spread through social media and link to national and international youth networks, forums and platforms.
