অনেক হেঁটেছি আমি; অনেক দেখেছি আমি ট্রাম-বাস সব ঠিক চলে;
একা একা পথ হেঁটে এদের গভীর শান্তি হৃদয়ে করেছি অনুভব;
চোখ নিচে নেমে যায়-চূরুট নীরবে জ্বলে-বাতাসে অনেক ধূলো খড়;

Roadwalk
Feeling a certain pulse inside, I walked alone countless times in the city streets, watched so many times the buses and the trams moved on unaffectedly; at the end they left their tracks quietly and gone into the realm of sleep.
All night long the gas light turned on comfortably knowing it’s job.
Nobody makes mistakes – bricks, buildings, billboards, windows, locks and roofs - all quite and calm under the sky and could feel the need of sleep.
Walking alone I felt their deep tranquillity.
It was midnight, numerous stars encircled the monuments and the minaret’s top in silence; it seemed, I never have encountered
such a relaxed and conceivable experience; countless stars with monumental Kolkata?
I looked down- the cigar discharged it’s smokes casually - lots of hay and dust in the wind; I closed my eyes and turnd sideways - many shattered brown leaves have blown out from the trees.
I don’t know why I walked alone in those Babylonian nights ; still I do not know after thousands of busy years.
